Biography: Margaret Tai
As a personal injury attorney, Margaret Tai has dedicated her entire legal career to protecting the rights of injured persons and helping them obtain the largest financial recovery possible for their injuries. Ms. Tai is committed to fighting for the rights of injured victims and holding liable the parties accountable for their negligent actions. She does this by zealously advocating for her clients and pursuing their claim to obtain the best result possible for each case.
Ms. Tai found personal injury law to be her true calling during her first semester in law school. After attending an afterschool review session, she was struck by an automobile while crossing the street in front of her school. She had an unfortunate experience with a personal injury attorney who dropped her case without notice when the insurance company denied liability. Her attorney left her hanging with mounting emergency service bills and nowhere to turn for help. She was too scared to tell her parents and she had no friends in town because she only recently moved to San Francisco to start attending law school. Nevertheless, Ms. Tai represented herself, sued and won judgment against the at-fault driver.
Ms. Tai believes that every person who is injured because of another party’s negligence has a right to financial compensation so that he or she can recover from their injuries, pay their medical bills, and get on with their lives. She also believes that all injured persons have a right to quality legal representation—regardless of whether they have the funds to pay for legal services. This is why the attorney’s compensation structure in personal injury cases is on a “contingency fee” basis system. Clients will only pay for attorney’s services if the attorney obtains settlement whereby all payments come from the settlement/recovery amount and never from client’s own pocket. If there is no recovery, then there is no attorney’s fee.
Ms. Tai has represented over 1,000 injury clients in every kind of personal injury cases, including, but not limited to, truck accidents, car accidents, motorcycle accidents, bicycle accidents, pedestrian accidents, mass transit accident, wrongful death cases, dog bite incidents, slip and fall accidents, spinal cord injuries and traumatic brain injuries.
Ms. Tai is licensed to practice law in California at both the state and federal levels and is a member of the California Bar Association and the American Bar Association.
